Falcon

A slender silhouette appears on the horizon,

Gradually increasing in size.

Wings spread wide,

The magnificent bird circles.

Suddenly,

He lets forth a shrill screech,

Signaling the oncoming hunt,

And the meal it may provide.

Driven mercilessly by a vast hunger,

The noble creature dives.

A dart,

He slices through the powder of clouds,

Much as an arrow flies when shot by Odysseus.

Steadfast and true,

He plummets with amazing speed towards earth.

The prey is unsuspecting,

Until all is black.

And as the burdened predator,

Flies away with pride,

I lay back in content,

The only sound is the empty meadow's whispering...
