Goals and CSM101
Earlier in the year we were presented with a worksheet entitled "Roadmap to Success." The second page of this document had a questionnaire which addressed our goals and the CSM 101 class. Throughout the course, however, several of my goals and opinions have changed, both as a direct result of the course and of my overall academic experiences.
My academic goals have changed little, yet the entire orientation of these goals were changed as I realized that I would rather be an electrical engineering student rather than a mechanical engineering student. Little difference between the two, but by the Options Showcase, I had not only recognized the thin distinction, but also realized I wasn't where I wanted to be. Aside from the major change, my academic goals remain the same- to do my best.
Upon first arriving at Colorado School of Mines, I had an idea that the material would be fairly easy, but the actual college schedule, etc. would be difficult. On the contrary, both preconceptions were proved wrong as the material turned out to be quite challenging while the scheduling allowed plenty of time to maintain a decent "life" outside of schoolwork. I found a perfect balance for myself between the two.
I still plan on finishing school at the Colorado School of Mines, and plan on receiving an Air Force commission upon graduation. That hasn't changed at all. My plan for achieving these goals hasn't altered, per se, merely been modified as I experience what college life was really like. Others will be able to see that my plan is being carried out by a simple glance at my academic record, my extracurricular activities, and the amount of fun I'm having with both!
